This month’s Vibe Pro Spotlight is on Jane Peterson, owner of suite 27 within Vibe Salon Suites in Plymouth, MI. Jane has been a hair stylist for over 35 years. She specializes in precision cuts, keratin & conditioning, formal styling, perms and more! Jane decided to move from a busy, downtown salon to her own salon suite just this year.

Why did you decide to go solo and work out of a salon suite as opposed to working in a traditional salon or spa setting?
I truly enjoy hairdressing and wanted a more quiet and relaxing environment.
Did you tour other salon suites? If so, why did you choose Vibe?
I knew I wanted to work at Vibe Salon Suites for many reason. Professional surroundings, clean environment, friendly staff, plenty of parking!
What advice would you give to someone who is trying to decide if they want to go solo or not?
Before you venture out on your own make sure you are willing to do the extra work in the beginning. Have your clients contact information and be organized .
What is the best thing about being an independent beauty professional?
Freedom to choose how and when you will work. This is a great profession for individuals with a family. Flexible hours.
What do you like most about your suite at Vibe Salon Suites?
My Salon Suite is all mine. The only way to grow as a individual is to try new experiences. I have been doing hair for 35 years and still learning everyday!
